Cask Task almost lost patience trying to figure out what the Queen Victoria pub was called. You could come in one year for a pint at the Northern Lights and come in a year later to find you were ordering your jar at Ye Olde Jockey! Let's hope it's settled down now to what was, I think, this old pubs original name.

The Queen Victoria is a pleasant enough place, but the competition on Gosforth High Street is quite tough. Still, with six real ales to choose from, its worth a look in.

Mordues Workie Ticket, Everards Tiger, Directors, Pedigree and guess what, Black Sheep Bitter, but Jennings Cumberland was the choice of the day.
A good selection.

    may i recommend this pub,,,,,(only if you are suffering from constipation ,or love the taste of Gaviscon)
    i recently (friday 9th dec)had a pint of guinness,and lived to regret it..bit of a backend blowout!!
    The Carling is always flat,,could have something to do with the bar staff,(one little blond in particular ,who seems to think she is doing you a favor by serving you)
    also there is an ever present smell of shite in the air,due to the toilets being so dirty,
    if you do just pass through the high street ,and want a better bar,,try the County ,or the Bullman,two much better and cleaner pubs..( i would never drink in the "Vic" again ,,good luck if you do )

      I'm sorry that you can't handle the banter - either that or I reluctantly served you because you were rude (the latter seems like a likely option if the above comment is anything to go by).

      I pride myself on always smiling as I serve, even when the pub is very busy. My priority is that the customer enjoys their visit. (I can find you many people who would testify to that).

      I hope that no-one is put off by the above comment. The manager drinks Guinness, and so you can guarantee it's a good pint. I suspect that something else drank or eaten caused the "backend blowout" (I cannot see how someone who is clearly drinking in many pubs in one night is able to specifically identify one thing that made them ill).
      I enjoy working here, and many people enjoy drinking here. I hope that people reading this come and visit us to judge for themselves.
