Looking for another pub, Cask Task stumbled on an old friend called the Errington Arms.

Some years ago I had made regular visits, for both food and drink, and loved it for both!
It unfortunately had a very bad fire and was closed for some time and I lost touch. The place I'm pleased to say was almost exactly as I'd left it. With good food and, most importantly for Cask Task, a couple of good real ales too, so we settled down for a relaxing pint.

The Wylam Bitter and Cumberland Brewery Corby Ale slid down nicely as a reminder of happy days past.
A good pub.

The Dyvels had us flummoxed for a while in Corbridge, until someone told us to cross the bridge over the river to the railway station, and there it was. Another one of the Corbridge gems.

An inviting old pub serving decent food with a reasonable choice of good real ale.
Deuchars IPA, Black Sheep, Courage Directors, and Bass Premium Ale.
A warm and comfortable atmosphere helped the Directors to slip down smoothly. Lovely pub.

Oh, by the way, don't sit too close to the coffee machine on the bar. It throws cups at strangers!

The Angel Inn has some special 40 year old memories for me and the place still gives that feeling of lived in comfort and relaxation. The lounge asks for laid back conversation and enjoyable ale drinking and the furniture enhances these.

The Hadrian and Border Brewerys Farne Island and Tyneside Blonde ales are an asset along with the others on tap in this beautiful old 18th century coaching inn.
I certainly hope its not long before I try the Angel again.

The Black Bull in Corbridge has long been a favourite of mine not only for its beer but also its comfortable and welcoming interior. Low heavily beamed ceilings, small windows and log fires in the winter give it a good atmosphere and friendly feel. The food's not bad either.

Ruddles County seems to have been on for ages, Black Sheep Bitter, Old Speckled Hen and Greene King IPA make up the tasty fousome. I couldn't resist my old favourite, Ruddles County, which was spot on.
I hope its not too long before I'm back for more!

The Golden Lion came to my attention some 30 or more years ago when the Roundheads and the Cavaliers had a mock battle somewhere near Corbridge. If I remember correctly the battle continued in earnest in the pubs afterwards. I'm pleased to say I wasn't involved as a few pints of blood were spilt.
The famous picturesque town of Corbridge is still as pretty now as it was then and well worth a visit. I've spent many days calling there in recent times although not in the Golden Lion. I was looking forward to renewing my acquaintance with the pub today.
A read of the small piece of history on the sign outside tells you some of the places' background.
The interior is welcoming and comfortable but its token two taps of real ale is just that. A token gesture. My pint of Deuchar's IPA was murky and cloudy.
I left. A disappointed man.
